I never knew love could set me free

With a newfound power I spread my wings

I am like a bird learning to skim through trees

Rambling chirps received with glee

Annihilating the pain to which I cling

I never knew love could set me free

Blind no more, relishing in the world I see

From my bleeding heart hear me sing

“I am a bird soaring through trees!”

The tender way sharp talons latch to me

Two souls merge into one sacred being

I never knew love could set me free

Grasps I desire none to take a knee

But I’ll accept the swan’s sweet dancing,

Just two devoted birds fluttering through trees

“Let us begin nesting!” is bravely decreed

And though our aging journey is no sure thing

I now know love is like flying, so free

I yearn to stay birds soaring through trees
